Sex Therapy Consultation Group

About this event

This virtual group is for psychotherapists who are interested in integrating a sex therapy framework into their work with couples and adult individuals. Therapists, not limited to MFTs, LPCs, LCPCs, and LCSWs of all levels of experience are welcome, though some experience working with sex and sexuality issues may be helpful. Over the course of ten meetings from July until November 2025, the group will examine how sex therapy concepts, assessment tools, and intervention can be applied into clinical practice when working with clients who present with sexual difficulties. Each meeting a few participants can volunteer to present on an individual or couple case that they are working on and consult with group members to strengthen their confidence with treating sexual issues.   • Negin Motlagharani, PhD, LMFT, CST
    Negin Motlagharani, PhD, LMFT, CST is an individual and relational therapist and an AASECT certified sex therapist. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Sexology from Modern Sex Therapy Institutes and her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University. Negin utilizes a systemic and integrative approach to treating sexual functioning challenges such as desire discrepancy, low libido, sexual shame and sexual trauma. She is dedicated to creating a non-judgemental and inclusive space for broaching difficult conversations about sex and relationships. She is a trauma-informed clinician who empowers clients to foster the growth that they want to see in their own lives.

1. This virtual event will be hosted via Zoom and managed by the facilitator. You may be prompted to download or upgrade your Zoom app if using a mobile device. A strong WiFi connection will be required for best quality.

3. Please respect that no copying, recording, or distribution of live session content is allowed. Meetings will not be recorded by the facilitator. 

Mutual Confidentiality Agreement

As a professional member you are invited to participate in a bi-weekly peer consultation group, hosted by Chicago Center for Relationship Counseling. Peer consultation groups provide a forum for practitioners to meet informally with peers and colleagues to discuss clinical issues in a supportive and confidential setting. Consultations should focus on specific clinical issues related to the client’s case, rather than discussing personal details or revealing sensitive information. Confidentiality is of utmost importance and all those participating in this group must commit to confidentiality as a prerequisite to participation.

Professional Code of Conduct states that when consulting with colleagues, Psychologists, Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and other mental health professionals may not disclose confidential information that could lead to the identification of a client without the client’s prior consent, unless disclosure cannot be avoided. In addition, the code says that one may “disclose information only to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of the consultation." Peer consultation is not a substitute for all forms of professional support a practitioner may need. Practitioners must recognize when an issue raised in the group may require further consultation with an outside expert.
